Internet Puppy Scams
Consumers trying to find dogs from reputable breeders or breed rescue groups often turn to the Web for advice. But they soon find themselves bombarded with elaborate websites offering the offspring of “champions.” With a host of fancy terms—certified kennel, AKC registered, pedigree, health certified—and picturesque photos of tail-wagging terriers, doe-eyed Chihuahuas and every other adorable breed, it is easy to become overwhelmed with choices. Don’t be fooled: the Internet is a vast, unregulated marketplace allowing anyone to put up a website claiming anything. Scattered among the websites of reputable breeders and rescue groups, Internet puppy scammers attract potential buyers with endearing pictures and phony promises.
Because of this we ask that everyone participating in this event go to your websites and check your links and then go to your links, links to be sure that you or a friends business have not come victim of website scammers who appear to look like legitimate breeders.
If you should find a link that is linked to yours that seems questionable or you are unsure how to approach the business owner, feel free to contact me and we can go over options as to how to inform that contact.
This is about sharing information not condemning anyone especially if they are victims what look to be legitimate links. Only together can we begin to snuff out puppy mills and their shrewd tactics. Thank you for your cooperation.

Reputable Breeder or Puppy Mill? There are several ways to tell them apart
Puppy Mills...
Puppy Mills...
- Usually have several breeds of dogs for sale, keep a lot of dogs and always have a lot of puppies.
- Often offer to ship dogs to new owners.
- Sell puppies over the Internet and in pet stores.
- Do not require an application or references from people buying a puppy.
- Usually will not allow customers to view their property or kennel.
- Don’t ask buyers to return the dog or contact them if the owners cannot keep the dog.
- Do not typically screen dogs for genetic defects.
- Simple... If you don't see the puppy's mom don't buy the puppy.
